Go-To Green!

Go-To Green!

Vitality, freshness, growth and balance are just a few of the phrases associated with the wonderful colour, green.

Here at The Home Company, we absolutely adore the organic shade, and hear it’s one of the colours that’s going to be making a bold statement as we head into the summer.

Soothing on the eyes, there’s an abundance of shades to choose from too, and we’re taking inspiration from luxury paint producer, Farrow & Ball’s greens. From Green Smoke, to Card Room Green, there’s a tone to suit every preference!

Calming and soothing it has a restorative effect, making it a great choice in any room of the home – particularly the bedroom where rest is top priority.

Green is also a great shade to incorporate into a home office where it can aid concentration, efficiency and focus – and let’s face it – we could all do with some of that!

The versatility of green is something that really appeals to us too – from zesty lime to earthy forest – there’s just so much choice!

Here’s our four top tips for incorporating green into your home!

1. Green goes with almost any other colour – so it’s a great choice if you’re looking to add a little something extra into your home. Cushions are always a

welcome addition – and can be easily swapped in or out of your scheme depending on mood.

We love the Spring Meadow Cushion which looks just fabulous piled onto a bed or on your sofa!

2. Sofas take a lot of flack over the years, which is why choosing a hard-wearing option in a colour that will hide a multitude of sins is essential.

With style and substance, the Forest Green Velvet Sofa is perfect! We also love the subtle nod to the Art Deco period too – gorgeous!

3. Choosing suitable outdoor furniture can be tricky and finding something that will stand the test of time, while being practical is actually quite difficult! But never fear – we’re now stocking B-Bag Bean Bags which are just the ticket for outdoor use – and in lime green too – very on trend!!

4. The humble throw is a real hero product – and while simple, they can add so much more to a room. Draped over a sofa, placed at the end of a bed, or for practical warmth – it’s easy to see why we love them so much. Our Poseidon Green Throw is a firm favourite – and the cute fringing makes it all the more lovely.

#RuralVogue

Posted by Andrew Mear

We’ve only gone and created our own hashtag to reflect a new interiors trend sweeping the showroom!

Rural Vogue is the art of country living as espoused by city returners embracing the work from home culture – but back in their rural roots. Post pandemic Rural Vogue represents urban chic with a laid-back country twist. Forget chocolate box country interiors – and think city attitude meets relaxed rural living.

We’ve encapsulated this gorgeous look which embraces the modern clean lines of the industrial trend in the latest prints and colours and mixed it with the rustic charm of traditional, sturdy furniture to create a ‘Rural Vogue’ look and feel.

Think of a cosy, homely interior, but with all the sophistication and style of the city.

To showcase the trend, as imagined by our talented team of interior experts here at The Home Company, we’ve created a dedicated space on the top floor of our store with our interpretation of the trend. Chunky, inviting sofas have been paired with industrial-feel furniture with sophisticated elements to create our vision of ‘Rural Vogue.’

And don’t be fooled into thinking this look is aimed at traditional properties – it can be weaved into any home, modern or period, to create the ultimate home interior.

Want to create the look for yourself? Visit us in store, or take a look at our brand new shoppable website!

Colours that Calm

Posted by Andrew Mear

Did you know that the ‘happiness receptors’ in human eyes are incredibly sensitive to blue? Think about it, what is more joyful that a beautiful blue sky or even a deep blue ocean?

With this in mind, blue is apparently the interior colour of choice for homes – particularly bedrooms – creating a happy, calming environment.

Mellow yellows and soft greens are also winning shades for homeowners looking to boost their wellbeing and promote a feeling of calm and serenity.

Whether it’s a statement wall or carefully selected accessories, the right shades within a home can enhance much more than wellbeing.

We’re big fans of colour and whether it’s indoor or outdoor décor, we’re stocking collections to bring happiness and joy to your home!

Our pick of the best to boost are:

- A rug can be the final piece to pull a room together. We love the Payton Deep Pile Rug which just so happens is available in a range of delightful shades including, navy, emerald green and a soft mustard!

- For a little pattern the Tanvi Teal Cushion features a printed geometric design. We love the idea of layering the Tanvi with the Monza to create an interior-design led look.

- An accent chair is ideal for cosy corners and smaller areas. The Chloe DG Chinois Jade Chair is gorgeous on its own or merged into an existing sofa-scape.

Shop our website for more ideas on how to fill your home with happiness.

THE REAWAKENING

After what seems like a very long winter and an even longer lockdown, this week marks a fantastic reawakening for us at The Home Company.

Opening again for the for the first time after closing in the depths of January, we’re incredibly excited to welcome back our customers and show them our revamped first floor showroom and latest new lines!

Shopping, being able to size up furniture and having the opportunity to speak to someone in an actual shop are things that make the high street such a special place – and in preparation for reopening - our team have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure the first trip to us is an exciting one.

The home has certainly become a bit of a sanctuary over the past year, one where we can feel safe and protected against what was going on outside, but also a place, which in some cases, may need a little TLC or a bit of a revamp.

That’s where we come in.

Our team have re-curated our spacious showroom to ensure you’re able to view and get a feel of the things you really want to see! The High Corn Mill creates the perfect backdrop for our incredible collections and allows plenty of room for our customers to browse and feel safe.

Brand new room sets enhance our furniture collections – with big must-have British brands taking centre stage, including Alston and Swyft. And of course, our gorgeous

local brands are still here too – including the Yorkshire RAM and Making Waves Woodwork.

We’re here to help and advise on the best ways to style a room, how to make the most of the space you have – and importantly – how to care for your new furniture.

Afterall – nothing beats the feeling of going to the shops!!

CREATE THE ULTIMATE OUTDOOR ESCAPE

The welcome news that we can finally invite friends and family into our garden – albeit as per the government’s rules – has definitely got us thinking about how we can make our outdoor space more appealing!

It may now be officially spring, but it’s still rather chilly if you ask us! So, turning the ‘bringing the outdoors in’ on its head, we’re all about ‘taking the indoors out’ and creating a lovely cosy (and warm!) outdoor sanctuary for you to enjoy. After having a garden spruce up – sweeping up debris, picking out weeds and having a general tidy, what else can help you to make your space more appealing while entertaining?

Here are our top tips:

1. Accessorise!

Accessories are your best friend, particularly warm throws and lots of soft cushions. A lovely basket can store all your outdoor essentials and be easily transported outside when your guests arrive, ready to save the day when it turns cold. Our Milini Vienna Grey Pom Pom throw is the perfect shade for the garden, whether it is elegantly draped over the back of a chair or wrapped around your guests to keep them warm; while our Bingham Mustard cushion offers vibrancy as well as doubling up as a soft seating accessory.

2. Dress to impress

A beautifully dressed table doesn’t have to be saved for indoors. For the momentous occasion of seeing your friends and family – who you may not have seen for months – go all out!

A vase with an array of spring flowers placed in the center of your outdoor table will look glorious and welcoming, while a carefully considered candle or scented candle display will create a wonderful atmosphere. Our locally produced Yorkshire RAM collection of candles offers a scent for every occasion, while our Giant Champagne Cork Holder requires no introduction – and who needs an excuse for a few bubbles?!

3. Go Natural

Create a relaxed atmosphere for your guests with a décor palette inspired by nature. We are particular fans of the Malini Zen Green Rectangular cushion, which features a calming print in a beautiful shade while the Juniper Mini Hares cushion is one of our latest new lines with a print inspired by wildlife and the great outdoors.

Our Baa Stool collection is crafted from Welsh wool and is the perfect addition outdoors, or in. The footstool range can be easily brought outside for your guests to prop their feet – or double up as a small seat for younger guests. Available in a selection of colours and finishes, the Baa Stool brand is quite the conversation starter!

We’ve all waited so long to get together with family and friends that making it memorable when we do reunite is going to be an extra-special occasion – so don’t be afraid to go for it and really celebrate the moment!
