165g butter
125g soft brown sugar
2 tblsp golden syrup (60g)
250g rolled oats (not jumbo oats)
pinch of salt, and ground ginger
Method:
Preheat oven to 200 °C /180 °C fan/ Gas 6/ 400 F
Grease a square baking tin, line the bottom with grease proof paper.
Heat butter, golden syrup, and sugar on a low heat, stirring often, until the butter is melted.
Remove from the heat and stir in the oats, salt, and ginger.
Turn the mixture into the prepared baking tin. Spread evenly and press down with the back of a spoon.
Bake for 20 minutes until a light golden colour for a soft flapjack. Give it a little longer if you prefer your flapjacks to be slightly crisp.

Buying a new Sofa can feel daunting. It’s one of the most expensive pieces of furniture you’ll ever buy for your home. You should give some serious thought to the style, feel, and size that you need before purchasing. Our guide to buying a Sofa covers everything you need to know about choosing the perfect sofa for your space.
Size is one of the most important details to consider; measure the space where your Sofa will be situated. Map out the space with masking tape to decide the best size of Sofa for your room. The sofa should not overwhelm the room; always ensure you can move freely around it.
Accessibility is very important; take measurements of door frames, hallways, interior doorways, etc. If you have any concerns about your access, please let us know, we'd be happy to help. If you choose a Sofa Bed or a recliner, measure to ensure you have enough room to extend or recline the Sofa.
While it's tempting to go with the latest look, remember you may have to live with a sofa for 10-15 years. Trends come and go, as a rule, try to invest in pieces that will stand the test of time. Soft furnishings and accessories are a budget-friendly way of following current design trends.
Consider your style. Choose a Sofa that will fit your lifestyle and complement your existing decor. Here at the Home Company, we pride ourselves on our customer service. Our knowledgeable staff are always here to help with your interior design questions.
Remember, comfort is key; we recommend you take the time to try before you buy. No two sofas are the same. Consider the depth of the seat, the height of the backrest, and the height of the armrests. We want to make sure you choose the sofa that's right for you!
Do your research on the construction of the sofa, the fillings, and always remember to ask about the guarantee. Our upholstered sofas feature hardwood frames, cold-cure seat cushions, and fibre fill back cushions.
When it comes to choosing fabrics, do order swatches. Without fabric samples, it can be difficult to judge how the natural and artificial light in your living room will affect the colour or sheen on a fabric. We can order you free samples. Ask yourself a few simple questions, for example: 'Is it a high-traffic or low-traffic area?' 'Is it a high-use sofa or an occasional chair?' 'How much of a statement do you want?' You'll then be in a much better position to make fabric decisions. All our fabrics are rigorously tested, ensuring they exceed British standards, which means they'll continue to look their best for years to come.
By following our simple guide, you'll be less likely to make a mistake when you purchase your new sofa.
We offer a wide range of high quality Sofas. Call in to our beautiful showroom at High Corn Mill, Skipton, to take a look for yourself! We are open 7 days a week.

Hot Cross Bun Pudding
Posted by Joyce Rickett
If you are looking for a delicious dessert to serve this Easter, you should try this easy Hot Cross Bun Pudding.
Ingredients:
16 - 20 Hot cross buns
2 - 3 cups milk
4 eggs
pinch of salt
You can also add sugar, spices, and vanilla extract to taste.
Tear up the Hot cross buns and place them in a large oven-proof dish.
In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, then mix in the milk and a pinch of salt.
Pour the mixture over the hot cross buns. Use a fork to gently press down on the buns, completely submerging them in the liquid. Add more milk if required.
I prefer to leave this overnight in the fridge, but if you don't have time, that's ok!
Preheat your oven to 325°F/160 C. Cover with foil greased with melted butter. Bake for around an hour, then remove foil and bake uncovered for approximately 15-30 minutes. It is ready when a knife inserted comes out clean. The pudding will be puffy when you take it out of the oven, but it will deflate.
Serve warm with whipped cream, custard, or even better vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

Gather around the Table this Easter.
Posted by Joyce Rickett
As we look forward to warmer weather, what better way to celebrate the Season than welcoming our loved ones into our homes for a springtime gathering? If you're planning to host your family or friends for an Easter Brunch or Dinner, then here are our top tips for entertaining in style this Holiday weekend.
To make it easier and more enjoyable as the host try to do as much of the preparation and cooking ahead of time. Simple things like setting the table before your guests arrive can take the pressure off. If you are hosting a crowd, try to use recipes that can be prepared in advance. Rather than a sit-down meal, why not serve a buffet-style Brunch or Dinner? A buffet of colourful salads, a roasted vegetable tart, and sharing boards not only taste delicious, but they look beautiful too!
If you are feeling creative, Easter is the perfect time to decorate your table. Start with fresh florals like tulips and daffodils. If you are short on space, crop the flowers and use bud vases or even egg cups, then dot them around the table. Using bud vases makes a few flowers go a long way! You could also scatter chocolate eggs and a few fluffy yellow chicks or bunnies on the table.
If the weather cooperates, you might want to opt to have a barbecue. To keep younger kids entertained, why not plan an Easter egg hunt in the garden?
If you plan to visit Skipton this Easter, call in and take a look at our stunning New Season arrivals. We also have an Easter Teddy trail for the kids, find 5 teddies in store to spell the hidden word and win a chocolate egg. 5th - 20th April.
We wish you all a Very Happy Easter!

Mother's Day Chocolate Orange Truffles
Posted by Joyce Rickett
Indulge your mum this Mother's Day with our delicious Chocolate Orange Truffles. These decadent Truffles are rich and creamy and make the perfect edible gift. They are super easy to make, go on, give them a try!
Ingredients:
90 ml whipping cream (full fat)
200 g good quality Dark Chocolate (we recommend 85% Cocoa solids)
1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
Coating:
1/3 cup chocolate sprinkles or Cocoa powder
Servings: 15 truffles
Method:
- Line a flat dish with non-stick paper.
- Add the cream and orange zest to a small saucepan. Heat the cream over a low heat until it is just below boiling point.
- Remove from heat and add the chocolate. Stir until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the mixture into your prepared dish. Transfer to the fridge to chill, about 2 hours or until it is firm enough to shape into balls.
- Use a teaspoon to scoop the mixture and roll it into 15 small balls. If the chocolate is too firm, set aside for 5-10 minutes to soften.
- Toss each Truffle in the chocolate sprinkles or cocoa powder until evenly coated.
- Place the truffles on a tray lined with grease proof paper, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until firm.
- Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to one week. That's if they last that long!
- Enjoy!
