Here are our top tips to create the ultimate bedroom experience:

1. Choose a colour scheme that will aid relaxation. Blues, greens, yellows and lilacs are a great choice.

2. Keep it simple. Clutter, excess decoration and oversized furniture can be disruptive to a good night’s sleep.

3. Don’t overdo it. We often have a tendency to pack in too much furniture to one space. Think carefully about what you need in your bedroom – a bed and a couple of bedside tables is just the right amount of furniture for the average sized bedroom.

4. Choose the best mattress you can afford. The average life cycle of a mattress is around seven years – so be mindful about selecting the right surface for your requirements. With so much choice from foam to pocket spring, it’s important to get it right!

5. Think carefully about accessories, a bed throw and a few cushions can make a lovely addition to a bed – but be careful not to overdo it!

6. Lighting is a key part in creating a sleep-inducing environment. Ceiling lights can often be harsh and too bright – where as a yellow-toned, low wattage light bulb in a beautiful bedside lamp will give just the right amount of light for reading while helping you gently lower your energy levels ready for a good night’s sleep.

7. Block out any outside lights. Blackout blinds and curtains are always a good idea in a bedroom – the darker the better when it comes to bedrooms!

Here at The Home Company, we absolutely adore the organic shade, and hear it’s one of the colours that’s going to be making a bold statement as we head into the summer.
